Sisterhood Oil on Canvas
SKU: CWA-019
Sisterhood Oil on Canvas Dimensions: 60 cm x 70 cm x 4 cm Medium: Oil ‘Sisterhood’ ! This oil on canvas is not just a group portrait; it’s a dynamic celebration of community, strength, and the beautiful bond that unites women. Against a bold, fiery red background, a circle of figures emerges in a cascade of brilliant colour. Wolff’s use of rich, textured oil paint gives each woman a unique presence. Their traditional wraps and head coverings are rendered in an astonishing array of blues, greens, yellows, and purples that feel both ancient and beautifully modern. The vibrant blue at their feet suggests they are wading in water or standing together in a shared, reflective space. The magic of ‘Sisterhood’ lies in its powerful emotional core. The women are linked not just by proximity, but by a sense of shared experience and unwavering support. Their faces are left to the viewer’s imagination, which makes their unity even more universal and profound. It’s a timeless testament to the strength found in solidarity and connection. This oil on canvas is a mesmerising statement piece for any space. It would make a bold and beautiful addition to a living room, a hallway, or an office, bringing with it a powerful sense of community and warmth. Oil on Canvas Cornelie Wolff Approaching Art from a Different Angle This Johannesburg-based artist started as a pharmacist. After completing her Honours Degree in Psychology, she joined Helios to further her skills in Art Therapy. During this time, she fell in love with art, the process and the emotional power it yields. While raising her family, which consisted of three young children, she took part-time classes with Rika de Klerk and Willie Jacobs. She also attended workshops led by Koos Bronkhorst, Niel Moss, Willie Jacobs, Rentia Coetzee, Ruth Walters, Elize Bezuidenhout, Douw van Heerden, Charla Maarschalk, and Jennifer McChristian. Today, she practices what she preaches by creating her work under the motto: “With every painting I complete, I grow as a person and an artist.” My art is created from a place of wonder – it is my dream for every human to never completely lose the child inside them, because it is our ability to see wonder and magic in things. I use bold brushstrokes, contrast and an impressionistic approach to entice the viewer to create their own interpretation of the subject and become part of my world.
