Gorilla Blues
SKU: CWA-197
Artwork Details: Artist: Cornelie Wolff Title: Gorilla Blues Medium: Oil on Canvas Size: 41 × 30 × 1 cm Subject: Gorilla / Wildlife Portrait Type: One-of-a-kind Original Artwork There is something remarkably human in the gaze of Gorilla Blues , an expressive original gorilla oil painting by South African artist Cornelie Wolff . Working predominantly in deep indigo, navy, charcoal, black and cool grey, Cornelie creates a powerful close-up portrait in which the gorilla’s face emerges dramatically from layers of blue. Loose, energetic brushwork contrasts with carefully observed details around the eyes, drawing the viewer immediately into its quiet, penetrating gaze. Rather than portraying the gorilla simply as a symbol of physical strength, Gorilla Blues reveals a gentler and more introspective presence. The heavy brow, reflective eyes, and subtle expression give the animal an almost contemplative quality, creating a portrait that feels both powerful and vulnerable. The unfinished quality of the soft neutral background adds to the contemporary character of the work, allowing the rich blues and expressive face to dominate the composition. This original oil painting of a gorilla would make a striking statement piece in a modern or contemporary interior and will particularly appeal to collectors of wildlife art, animal paintings, gorilla artwork and original South African art .
